Get in Touch With Record Offices

This is a private reference site, not a government office. It cannot confirm whether someone is in custody, arrange a release, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Contact the appropriate public office directly for those services.

Johnson County Sheriff and Jail

For a local booking question or to identify the right sheriff custodian, begin with the county's official sheriff contact. The published administrative and non-emergency hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. No direct records extension, booking-photo fee, or fixed response time was verified, so ask for the current records contact, fee estimate, and schedule.

Johnson County Sheriff's Office
Sheriff Clifton Worley Jr.
216 Honeysuckle Street
Mountain City, TN 37683
Phone: 423-727-7761
County email listed: sheriffcw@johnsoncountysd.org
Source: Johnson County Sheriff page

Address and contact warning: the TBI agency directory separately lists the Johnson County Sheriff's Department at 999 Honeysuckle Street, while indexed sheriff contact pages show different fax and email details. Call the main number before visiting, mailing a request, or relying on a non-county contact detail.

Public-Records Request Route

For copies of an existing booking sheet, release record, or a booking photograph if maintained and public, use the county's written public-records procedure. The county says inspections may be oral or written, but requests for copies must use its Public Records Request Form. The process operates under the Johnson County public-records policy and Tennessee Code Annotated § 10-7-503(g).

Johnson County Mayor's Office, Public Records
Public Records Request Coordinator: Sheila Caldwell
c/o Amanda Hall
222 West Main Street
Mountain City, TN 37683
Phone: 423-727-9696

Give the person's full name, an approximate date or date range, the arresting agency if known, and the specific record requested. The coordinator can identify the proper custodian if the sheriff holds the record. Older material may not be electronic, and the county has not published a booking-photo-specific fee or promised turnaround time.

Choose the Right Record Source

Different offices hold different stages of a case. The following official sources are better starting points than an unofficial index when the goal is to locate an underlying record.

  • Recent Johnson County booking information: review the official quarterly booking and release report, keeping its printed date in mind, or use the public-records route. The sheriff web root was not working as a live roster when researched.
  • Case outcome: search by case or party in the Johnson County court system, then ask the clerk for formal copies if needed. A booking entry is an accusation and may not reflect the final disposition.
  • State custody or notification: use Tennessee FOIL for TDOC felony-offender information and VINE for eligible custody-status notifications. These do not replace a Johnson County jail inquiry.
  • Federal or immigration custody: use the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator or the ICE Online Detainee Locator, depending on the custody system.
  • Warrant information: see the county's Wanted Fugitives resource for the documented state and local check-and-resolve routes. Do not approach a wanted person.

Mountain City Police Records

A Mountain City incident report and a county booking record can be separate files. For a city police report, start with the agency or municipal office and ask which office processes copies. No public Mountain City arrest log or booking feed was verified.
